En+ Group is considering building an export-oriented wind farm in the Amur Region.

Mikhail Hardikov, Head of the Power Segment at En+ Group (LSE: ENPL; MOEX: ENPG), a Russian leader in low-carbon aluminium production and renewable energy, announced that the company is considering building an export-oriented wind farm in the Amur Region. The announcement was made at the 7th Eastern Economic Forum.
En+ Group is planning to pair up with Russian and Chinese partners to establish a wind farm in the Priamurskaya Advanced Special Economic Zone (ASEZ). The project is backed by the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation and the Government of the Amur Region, while the technological solutions are provided by PowerChina, a Chinese state-owned company. Currently, the partners are assessing the wind resource potential of the region so as to pick the optimal wind farm configuration. Thanks to the technological capabilities of Chinese partners, the wind power capacity is estimated to reach 1 GW, generating about 3.5 billion kWh of green energy per year to be then exported to China. As of now, the parties are evaluating the capital costs for each configuration. The construction will be handled by the Chinese counterparty under an EPC contract, with the ETA for completion estimated at 2 years.

Mikhail Hardikov, Head of the Power Segment at En+ Group, says:
"Electricity exports from Russia to China are growing at record speeds, necessitating an increased production to meet the growing Chinese demand. Renewables, namely wind energy produced in the Amur Region are the only way to address their needs relatively quickly. The Group and its partners are actively working on the project. The Amur Region government, the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation and the Priamurskaya ASEZ have jointly created a special task group. Together with our Chinese partners, we are working on assessing the capital costs and finding land plots suitable for different wind farm configurations. I am sure that, given the same effective coordination of all the parties involved, this project can be finished in the coming years. As our partner PowerChina has suggested, Amur Region could become a full-fledged energy hub with a focus on new technologies and clean energy."
