24 December 2019 - PJSC Irkutskenergo, a subsidiary of En+ Group, which manages the Group’s energy assets in the Irkutsk region, has topped Russia's first ranking of power companies for transparency on environmental responsibility.
PJSC Irkutskenergo was ranked ahead of PJSC RusHydro and PJSC Enel Russia in the rating organized by WWF Russia. The environmental transparency ratings for companies in the electricity and heat generation sectors were assessed according to 24 criteria. The calculation was carried out by the National Rating Agency’s Analytical Center using a methodology developed by WWF Russia, and was part of WWF’s “People for Nature” project, supported by the European Union.
The full results of the 2019 ranking are available through WWF Russia’s website.
Vladimir Kiryukhin, CEO of En+ Group, commented:
“We were delighted to be placed first in the WWF transparency ranking, which recognized our commitment to transparency and data-led disclosure. This is integral to the successful delivery of the company's sustainable development strategy, focused on reducing CO2 emissions and responsible use of water resources. We strive to constantly improve our disclosure practices in line with the highest international standards.”
Alexey Knizhnikov, the head of WWF Russia’s program on corporate environmental responsibility, commented:
“Without objective, publicly available information on the extent and causes of our negative environmental impact, it is impossible for us to effectively address this issue. The results of the pilot rating for energy generating companies showed that this industry lags far behind other sectors for transparency. Increasing industry disclosure on companies’ environmental impacts is therefore an important first step in supporting efforts towards improved sustainability.”
