Taishet Aluminium Smelter (TAZ)

This new high-tech facility has become one of RUSAL's key assets in Siberia. Thanks to the Taishet smelter's close proximity to Asian countries, the company can quickly and efficiently deliver its products to the largest, most promising aluminium markets.

The feasibility study for the smelter was carried out by the international engineering corporation Bechtel, with input from RUSAL's own Engineering and Construction Division.

The Irkutsk Aluminium Smelter offers over 100 types of aluminium alloys and over 50 types of wire rod. High-value-added products make up 65% of the smelter's output.

The plant is outfitted with energy-efficient RA-400T pots developed by the Company's Engineering and Technology Centre. The RA-400 pots are among the most powerful in the world. One such pot can produce some 3 metric tonnes of aluminium a day.

The production complex of the Taishet Aluminium Smelter consists of two potrooms in Phase I, a casthouse, an anode rodding area, an energy shop, gas treatment facilities and a range of infrastructure facilities.
