Strategic acquisitons and organic growth resulted in the creation of the largest low-carbon aluminium producer globally

En+ Group was established with a predominant focus on the production of aluminium and alumina. Over time, through a process of strategic acquisitions, asset consolidations and organic growth, the company has developed into a leading global vertically integrated aluminium and hydropower producer.

The Group acquired 64.0% of the shares in Krasnoyarsk hydropower station. With 6.0 GW of installed electricity capacity, the Krasnoyarsk HPP is currently the tenth largest globally. Between 2003 and 2007, the Group acquired a further 4.3% interest in Krasnoyarsk HPP. In 2016, En+ Group fully consolidated the Krasnoyarsk HPP.

RUSAL and RusHydro entered into a cooperation agreement to jointly implement the BEMO Project, which involved the construction of the 3.0 GW Boguchany HPP on the Angara river and the Boguchany aluminium smelter (with a designed production capacity of approximately 588 kt of aluminium per annum) in the Krasnoyarsk Region.

The Group acquired a controlling stake in Irkutskenergo, a power company that owns the Irkutsk (0.7 GW), Bratsk (4.5 GW) and Ust-Ilimsk (3.8 GW) HPPs and several CHPs in the Irkutsk region of Russia.

RUSAL completed the acquisition of a 25% plus 1 share in Norilsk Nickel, the world’s second largest producer of Nickel, the world’s largest producer of palladium and one of the world’s leading producers of platinum and copper.

RUSAL conducted an IPO and listed its shares and global depositary receipts on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and NYSE Euronext in Paris. Later in 2010, RUSAL listed its Russian depositary receipts on Russia’s stock exchanges. In 2015, the RUSAL shares were permitted to list on MOEX.

The Group successfully completed its initial public offering of global depository receipts on the London Stock Exchange and the Moscow Exchange. The offer price was set at USD 14 per share. As part of the IPO, the Group raised USD 1,500 million, making it the biggest IPO of 2017 in London. In line with pre-IPO commitments, the proceeds from the primary tranche of the offering were used for deleveraging: shortly after the listing, the Group repaid in full its VTB loan totalling USD 942 million.

On April 6, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the Department of the Treasury of the United States of America designated certain legal and natural persons to its Specially Designated Nationals List (the SDN List), including, among others, the Company and its subsidiaries.

En+ Group completed the acquisition of the bank's stake in the Group. The transaction allowed for a simplified ownership structure and together with the Glencore share swap (also closed in 2020), made the Group a more attractive investment.

En+ celebrated its 20th anniversary. The group's social agenda is centered on the integrated development of Russia's regions and improving the living standards of the enterprises' employees. To mark the anniversary, the Group organized a three-day "Energia" cultural festival in Irkutsk.

Despite external challenges, in 2023 En+ maintained the pace of implementation and investments in the New Energy modernization program in full.

The Group joined the Federal Project "Professionality" to train qualified personnel to meet the needs of business and give impetus to the social development of Russian regions.

The Company opened four Multilab competence development centers at once: in Divnogorsk, Bratsk, Angarsk and Nizhny Novgorod.
